This Senior Software Engineering Manager will lead the Design System engineering team. This team is a close partnership between Product Management, User Experience Design, and Engineering, and is dedicated to developing the next generation of the Design System used across all of Splunk’s end-user experience teams and our external customers.

Success will be measured by your ability to build and lead your team as part of our overall engineering strategy. You will seamlessly integrate within our innovative culture and contribute to our excellent record for delivering market-leading solutions. You are a seasoned leader with a demonstrated history of building and leading both established and emerging engineering talent while fostering an environment of inclusion, creativity, and innovation. You build relationships with your partners and make connections for your team to collaborate deeply with our partner teams.

In this role, you will:

  • Diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Product and Design to build the future strategy of the Design System

  • Collaborate closely with partner teams and internal stakeholders to communicate and increase the adoption of our Design System

  • Serve as the team's technical advocate, collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders to refine requirements and fulfill customer needs effectively.

  • Champion an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical advisor.

  • Plan and support career development.

  • Recruit and retain top talent.

  • Be an advocate of scalable and extensible, recoverable, manageable architecture for Core products and services.

  • Foster the growth of engineering talent within the team through hiring, coaching, and mentorship initiatives.

Ideal Experience

  • Experience leading front-end and user experience teams working with a variety of front-end technologies and frameworks, React preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience scaling and cultivating teams.

  • Experience developing new products and infrastructure, either in small companies or within the context of larger organizations. A mix of start-up and bigger company experience is a plus.

  • Experience building and cultivating strong engineering practices and processes.

  • Consistent track record of delivering scalable, high-performance, and high quality software systems.

  • Strong technical acumen, creativity, interpersonal skills, and emotional intelligence.

  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s Degree; or 6 years with a Master’s degree or equivalent experience.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Hands-on experience with front-end and user experience teams working with a variety of front-end technologies and frameworks

  • Experience with developing and scaling Design Systems or large-scale Component Libraries

Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out below, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year
