As a Principal Software Engineer you will be responsible for Splunk Enterprise core product. You will be part of a small closely knit team in Seattle and have a large impact in defining and architecting Splunk Enterprise for cloud. You will be immersed in both on-prem and cloud avatars of Splunk enterprise with exposed to the full portfolio of technology areas.
You are an expert in distributed computing, cloud native software architecture/development and efficient in-memory algorithms. Initiative, passion and commitment is your soft currency. What You’ll Do
Design and develop algorithms/code for Splunk Enterprise roadmap for Cloud.
Collaborate in a CI / CD development model for cloud native deployments.
Create high quality code and fix the product up when it needs sustaining.
Analyze and improve performance, scalability and reliability.
Brainstorm and influence technical decision making for features and architecture turns.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
10+ years active developing and debugging C/C++ (Windows and/or Linux).
Demonstrable foundation in data structures, algorithms and software design for cloud.
Experience with development models for cloud native architectures (CI / CD, SOA, Microservices etc) as well as cloud scale.
Prior development experience in networking and storage protocol stacks.
Familiarity and prior experience working with dockers and Kubernetes.
Fluency in windebug/visual studio debugging: live process and static process dumps.
Solid Windows OS knowledge and windows performance analysis tools.
- Requires a minimum of 12 years of related experience with a technical Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a technical Master’s degree; or a PhD with 5 years’ experience; or equivalent experience.
