Sr. Leader of Engineering - DevOps

We are looking for a visionary engineering leader who is passionate about the journey into the cloud. Focusing on Release and DevOps practices along with the operational aspects required to create a world-class customer experience. This requires experience in designing, operating, administering and supporting mission-critical services to support a diverse engineering organization along with experience in developing microservices in a native cloud environment.

As a DevOps senior leader, you will help shape the future of CI/CD architecture and pipeline to smoothly transition from Enterprise large scale software development into the Cloud delivery model. Focus on self-serviceability, automation, tools development, and reliably building and releasing code for a large engineering organization. We treat our build, tool, and infrastructure as a code like the rest of our applications. While exceptional leadership skills and great interpersonal skills are keys to success on our team, you should already have the technical skills described in the job requirements below to hit the ground running.

Requirements and Responsibilities:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Experience leading geographically distributed teams on multiple concurrent projects

  • Passionate about establishing a culture of customer obsession and focusing on processes,

people, tools, and technologies to build a best in class DevOps organization

  • Lead a global DevOps engineering team who focuses on all aspects of CI/CD

infrastructure and architecture, build and release, tools, automation, and daily operational metrics to ensure highest productivity for our customer managed and Cloud engineering organizations

  • Focus on developing efficient infra, tooling, automated testing, integration that needs to cut across the native Cloud and Enterprise engineering work streams to bridge gaps and provide visibility and data to various systems

  • Collaborate closely with the global Development teams to ensure high availability of services for highest productivity outcomes

  • Build, create and maintain automated solutions with scripting, build systems, backup systems, shared resources and other integrated systems

  • Develop, maintain and optimize automated deployment, certification and testing infrastructure against multiple cloud platforms

  • Build, configure and tune highly available and fault tolerant Docker Clusters and K8s infrastructures

  • Be outcome driven and use OKRs to ensure alignment on highest business priorities

  • Lead teams in data driven approach to troubleshoot, monitor and maintain set SLAs

  • Be an active participant in product discussions, influence the roadmap and take

ownership and responsibility for new initiatives in the cloud journey

  • Demonstrated experience leading Agile DevOps teams focused on enterprise web, native

cloud microservices and mobile applications

  • BS in CS/EE or equivalent; MS Preferred with 12+ years of industry experience

  • 8+ years of leadership experience

Relevant Background and Technologies:

  • Kubernetes and Docker

  • Chef, Puppet, Ansible, AWS-including EC2, S3, VPC, Route 53, CloudFormation, GCP,

Azure, VMWare, OpenStack

  • CI/CD automation experience using Jenkins, Gitlab, Codeship or similar

  • Proficiency with log monitoring and analytics preferably using Splunk

  • Scripting using Python, Go

  • On-call (SRE style) follow-the-sun rotation, both as a member and as a lead who has

improved the processes themselves

  • JIRA Service Desk as a frontline Helpdesk

  • NGINX or similar load balancer – Installation, Configuration and management.

  • Linux (ssh, including bash/shell scripting)
