The Developer Platform group at Splunk is looking for an engineering leader to help lead and grow a team of passionate engineers.

We have a constant stream of new things for you to learn. We're always growing into new areas, bringing in and giving back to open source projects, and exploring new technologies.

You will have a set of extraordinarily talented and dedicated peers, all the way from engineering and QA to product management and customer support.

What You'll Do

  • You will foster an atmosphere of continuous improvement by serving as a coach, mentor, and technical adviser.

  • You will diagnose and resolve systemic obstacles that prevent your team from delivering high-quality software.

  • You will work with your manager, your product manager and your manager peers to ensure alignment of your team’s work within a larger release.

  • You will plan and support career development.

  • You will recruit and retain talent.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Has experience with developing and delivering scalable, Enterprise software solutions in cloud native environments.

  • You have experience delivering solutions for other developers and/or in the analytics space

  • You are intimately familiar with microservices based architecture and distributed systems

  • You understand the importance of investing in continuous delivery and developer tools

  • You are a hands-on manager that is willing to get hands dirty if needed, including being available for on-call escalations

  • You have excellent people management and leadership skills, and a consistent track record of mentoring and coaching team members.

  • You are passionate about building and developing good engineering practices and processes, like test-driven development, continuous integration, and build/test/release automation.

Qualifications

  • Requires 4+ years supervisory or management experience and 8 years of professional engineering experience with a Bachelor's degree; or 1 to 2 years of supervisory or management experience and 6 years' professional engineering experience and a Master's degree; or a PhD with no management experience and 3 years' engineering experience; or equivalent experience
