Understanding how infrastructure and systems impact user experience is essential as applications become distributed and more sophisticated. Splunk Observability Cloud is a new generation of SaaS-based metric and application performance management solutions built via microservices and distributed applications to help engineers deliver better, faster, and more reliable applications. We're looking for a Senior Engineering Manager to help lead a diverse team of engineers to build upon our application platform as we continue to innovate on application observability. You will help the team win in a fast-growing market.

As a manager at Splunk, your primary role is to guide your team towards reaching its maximum potential through mentorship. You will bring a ton of empathy while holding the line of high quality and helping people grow. You will collaborate closely with your peers in multi-functional areas across engineering as well as product management, program management, UX, and documentation to enable your team deliver success to our customers. You will apply your background in application development to lead your team through projects to develop new and sophisticated application platform capabilities, and build frameworks to enable peer product teams to apply these to a variety of use-cases.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams focused on large-scale, distributed SaaS systems.

  • Demonstrated experience with DevOps practices and leading teams to build and operate their own services.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively work across functions and across remote teams.

  • Passionate about good engineering practices, new technologies, and improving processes, and a consistent record of mentoring and growing team members.

  • Passionate about building elegant and powerful tools to solve customer problems.

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • 10+ years of Software Engineering experience and recent 6+ years of experience managing engineering teams.

Note:

Base Pay Range

SF Bay Area, Seattle Metro, and New York City Metro Area

Base Pay Range: $203,200.00 - 279,400.00 per year

California (excludes SF Bay Area), Washington (excludes Seattle Metro), Washington DC Metro, and Massachusetts

Base Pay Range: $182,880.00 - 251,460.00 per year

All other cities and states excluding California, Washington, Massachusetts, New York City Metro Area and Washington DC Metro Area.

Base Pay Range: $162,560.00 - 223,520.00 per year

Splunk provides flexibility and choice in the working arrangement for most roles, including remote and/or in-office roles. We have a market-based pay structure which varies by location. Please note that the base pay range is a guideline and for candidates who receive an offer, the base pay will vary based on factors such as work location as set out above, as well as the knowledge, skills and experience of the candidate. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for incentive compensation and may be eligible for equity or long-term cash awards.
